A) Preamble

This Annual Performance Appraisal (APA) primarily derives from pertinent clauses of Section E (Faculty Responsibility) of the IUB Faculty Manual. The appraisal framework has also been developed based on the Report on Measuring the Service Component of Faculty Workload, prepared by the ‘Team 33’ in 2019, and the Faculty Performance Appraisal System prepared by the IQAC, IUB in 2020.

Faculty members are required to consult this appraisal framework in devising their Annual Performance Work Plan (See Annex-1) and to report activity and achievements over an annual appraisal cycle. The cycle begins with corresponding semester of annual increment date and faculty members are required to prepare an appraisal report as per this framework by the end of the cycle and submit to the Head of the Department and the respective Dean of School. This appraisal framework will eventually get integrated into an automated data management system.

*For Lecturers, 10% of the Research, under special circumstances, may be shifted to the Service component, OR 10% of the service can be shifted to research which is subject to prior approval of the HoD and Dean, and incorporated accordingly in the Annual Performance Agreement of the faculty submitted to the respective supervisors at the beginning of the APA cycle.

** No faculty member/ HoD/ Dean can have zero teaching load in any given semester.

 

C) APA Point Calculation Method

Based on the workload weightage described above faculty performance will be assessed on the scale of 5.0
